MOSAIC
The purpose of the MOSAIC project is to develop a new thermal solar plant configuration with an innovative solution for the concentration of solar radiation. This new configuration aims to increase the concentration ratio, reaching temperatures in the working fluid of 565ᵒC, increasing system efficiency.
The solar field will be fixed (without solar tracking), and it will be comprised of curved mirrors, so the final shape of the solar field will be a semi-Fresnel semi-sphere. The plant will also have a storage system and will use molten salts as the only working fluid, making it possible to achieve disengaged technology. As regards collecting energy, a central receiver will be used, positioned vertically and Equipped with a tracking system.
The main objective of the MOSAIC Project will be both the design and the validation of this CSP configuration, with a significant reduction on the costs compared to the current state of the art.
COBRA’s participation in the MOSAIC project consists primarily of analysing both the competitiveness of the newly developed technology and the integration of its systems.
