The result expected from the project is the development of an advanced system of online concentrated solar flow metering for thermal solar power plants with central or tower receiver.
The general objective of the project is the development of a concentrated solar flow metering system for thermoelectric solar power plants with commercial central receiver technology. The specific objectives include:
- Development of specific intermittent sensors (optical and/or thermal) for precise and robust metering of the concentrated solar radiation in the conditions demanded by the commercial plants.
- Combination of the intermittent metering systems (sensors, thermocouples) with systems capable of metering and/or estimating large global areas (VIS and IR cameras).
- Integration of these systems into the design of electricity distribution tower plant solar receivers.
- Analysis and evaluation of the integration of the metering system with the plant control system.
This technological development will give COBRA a significant competitive edge in the thermal solar sector by increasing not only the durability of the key components in the thermal solar plants (solar receivers), but also their efficiency, which will reduce the end price of the energy and will have a positive effect on the company’s competitiveness internationally.
