ETRA lidera el proyecto CROSSBOW donde participarán un total de 24 miembros europeos entre empresas industriales, operadores del sistema eléctrico, proveedores de baterías, universidades y centros de investigación. COBRA es uno de estos socios. Dentro del consocio, Cobra lidera los paquetes de trabajo 2.2 y 8.3. En ellos, por un lado, se realizará el diseño de nuevas plantas hibridas (Wind+PV+Baterías, etc.) y el ensayo de una batería de flujo, y por otro, se realizará el plan de explotación y los modelos de negocio de los resultados. CROSSBOW propondrá el uso compartido de recursos para fomentar la gestión transfronteriza de energías renovables y de unidades de almacenamiento, permitiendo una mayor penetración de energías limpias y reduciendo al mismo tiempo los costes operativos de la red. El objetivo es demostrar una serie de tecnologías diferentes y complementarias, ofreciendo a los Operadores del Sistema una mayor flexibilidad y robustez a través de: 1) Un mejor control de la energía de equilibrio transfronteriza en los puntos de interconexión. 2) Nuevas soluciones de almacenamiento – distribuidas y centralizadas -, ofreciendo servicios auxiliares para el funcionamiento de las Plantas de Almacenamiento Virtual (VSP) 3) Soluciones TIC para una mejor observabilidad de la red, permitiendo la generación flexible y DSM. 4) La definición de un mercado mayorista transnacional, proponiendo una remuneración justa y sostenible de las energías limpias a través de la definición de nuevos modelos empresariales que apoyen la participación de nuevos actores y la reducción de costes.
COBRA realizará nuevos diseños de plantas híbridas, combinando diferentes tecnologías de generación eléctrica (Fotovoltaica, eólica, hidráulica, turbina de biogás/gas con HYSOL, etc.) y tecnologías de almacenamiento de energía (baterías de litio y flujo, bombeo hidráulico, etc.).
Un demostrador de una batería de flujo (de kW a MW), que se llevará a cabo para probar su control a escala laboratorio, evaluando el aumento de la generación eléctrica gracias a la batería y su escalabilidad de kWh a GWh. Herramientas de simulación para elaborar el perfil de producción de electricidad con el objetivo de evaluar la competitividad de las tecnologías de almacenamiento de energía.
